Introduction
ABOUT THE COURSE
Excellence in training: maximum score in the evaluation of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC). Belonging to UNICID's recognized Health Area, the Medicine course uses a differentiated, student-centered teaching-learning method. Problem Based Learning (PBL) allows for an interdisciplinary and integral approach to the population's health situations, emphasizing a humanistic and ethical attitude towards the profession and the patient, within the reality of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) . From the beginning, the student is encouraged to develop clinical reasoning and learn to make decisions based on scientific evidence. In addition, it performs internships at the best health institutions in the city, such as the Hospital do Servidor Público Estadual, Hospital Municipal Infantil Menino Jesus and Hospital Maternidade Leonor Mendes de Barros. Practical performance in several scenarios: Basic Health Units, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms and medium and high complexity hospitals.
JOB MARKET
Profile: physician with strong clinical training, critical, reflective, incorporating ethical and humanistic values into professional practice. It is committed to the development of citizenship and the transformation towards a fairer society that provides access to health production for all Brazilians. This professional is faced with problems of different natures, and must respond with humanism, technical quality and appropriately to the context, enabling the individual and his community to achieve the best quality of life. To be a doctor is to be a scientist and follow the progress of science and, at the same time, be a caretaker, ethical and sensitive to human suffering, always seeking new answers to social needs. New opportunities. The traditionally liberal character of Medicine has changed significantly in recent times in Brazil. A good part of the more than 260,000 physicians who work in the country combines self-employed work with shifts that can accumulate three or more jobs. New fields of work, however, are being strengthened, such as family medicine, geriatrics (considering the aging of the population), imaging, orthomolecular medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and areas that prioritize high technology.
DIFFERENTIAL
The Medicine Course brings together a highly qualified faculty, infrastructure on a differentiated campus (UNICID ¿ Campus Pinheiros), designed to exclusively meet all the needs required by the course, in addition to laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology equipment. Among its main differentials is the newest and most advanced Simulated Hospital, in which UNICID is a pioneer, allowing international certification. It is an advanced realistic simulation training center developed in high fidelity rooms. The simulators/robots are the latest generation in the market, with complex software, being the only ones that work with wireless, allowing total mobility for different environments. These high-fidelity simulators are organized into three beds in a ward and two emergency rooms, one of which is focused on care for pregnant women and childbirth, including a neonatal resuscitation unit. In addition to the Simulated Hospital, the course has two more spaces for training Medical Skills, one of which has 20 offices for performing OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). These other spaces have several mannequins and simulators that allow, through monitored practices, the training of medical skills essential to the exercise of the profession. The Morfofuncional Laboratory, which now has twice the physical space, has more areas of study, among others. In addition to these, UNICID Medicine has a modern and advanced Laboratory of Surgical Techniques and a Laboratory of Functional Practices, both coupled with qualified Research Laboratories, which allows professors and students to develop quality scientific research. All this not to mention the course's exclusive library and two computer labs. All designed to allow students to arrive more prepared for practical activities. Furthermore, UNICID Medicine is a member of the Global Health Learning Opportunities ¿ GHLO, a consortium created by the American Association of Medical Colleges. This is an educational exchange program in the area of health, which includes American medical universities, as well as others in various locations around the world. In Brazil, we are pioneers in this partnership, which will make it easier for students in the last two years of Medicine to access international elective internships, favoring the exchange of essential information to enable them to work with different populations and realities in health, to expand the cultural dimension and to learn about different health systems and approaches to medical care in other nations.
