Introduction
Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology is the only college in Massachusetts to offer a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Technology. This fast-growing field encompasses a range of positions that improve patient care by developing, implementing and maintaining computerized health information systems. We even offer concentrations in Public Health and Data Analytics. The COVID-19 health crisis accelerated the need for portable medical records, regional health data, and the capacity to track health patterns. Technicians with IT skills plus knowledge of healthcare language and clinical practices are in high demand in medical and public health settings.
Health Information Technology (HIT) was already one of the fastest-growing fields in the healthcare industry, fueled in large part by federal regulations mandating that hospitals and other healthcare organizations adopt technology to improve the quality of care and contain costs. These mandates have resulted in tremendous growth in hiring demand and earning potential for professionals who can plan, develop, implement, integrate, and manage health IT systems.
