The Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Language, Communication and Pathologies, Is a title of the Faculty of Sciences of the Education. It belongs to the area of ​​Social and Legal Sciences, with a duration of one year and 60 ECTS credits in its entirety.
It seeks to provide advanced, specialized and professional training, and to initiate in the research tasks, those graduates and professionals who wish to deepen in the scope of the evaluation and intervention on the language and its alterations.
It is a joint title of the Universities of A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Salamanca and Zaragoza that cooperate with their human and material resources to contribute to the advancement in these professional fields and of the research with the aim of improving the development and quality of life Of the population.
Why study the degree
This proposal aims to consolidate a quality offer for professionals specialized in intervention on communication and language, specifically targeting graduates in Psychology, Pedagogy, Psychopedagogy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Early Childhood and Primary Education, without this supposing to eliminate Who have the basic basic training necessary in the terms established by the legislation.
This new Interuniversity Master takes advantage of the existing synergies between the participating universities, all with specialized teaching staff, a long teaching and research experience and recognition within and outside the Spanish State. It is important to emphasize that studies related to the treatment of language and communication have an important presence in Spanish universities and in which they now propose this title. Thus, for example, the University of A Coruña has the only degree in Logopedia of the Galician university system.
What is learned
To contribute, from an interdisciplinary perspective, to the updating of the knowledge of graduates in Logopedia, Primary and Secondary School, Psychology, Pedagogy, Psychopedagogy and Occupational Therapy, and all those related or interested in language and communication disorders.
Provide comprehensive scientific knowledge on all alterations incorporated in the curriculum. This includes knowledge of the state of the art in each subject, both at the basic and intervention levels, and the future course of research in a basic and applied sense.
Provide knowledge about the peculiarities of professional work in this area, paying special attention to the influence that the social and evolutionary context have in the treatment of this type of problems.
Provide knowledge and practical training on strategies, programs and intervention techniques specific to this area of ​​work.
Apply strategies and intervention techniques to different problems by rotating through different centers and services.
Initiate graduates in the field of research, providing them with the specific skills and knowledge to carry out a research work.

Since it is a university master's degree aimed at the specialization of graduates in the evaluation and intervention on communication and language disorders, their professional output has to do with the areas in which these graduates can develop their professional function: Early Childhood Centers, Public or Private Health Centers, private or private schools, private residences for the elderly, and private practice of the profession either individually or as part of interdisciplinary teams.
