You will then study the function of the digestive system and learn about the signs and symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders. You will learn how proteins, carbohydrates, and fatty acids provide fuel for the body's metabolism. You will look into the function of the central nervous system and learn about its three major subdivisions, the structure and function of the spinal cord, and the brainstem. You will also study the different types of infectious neurological diseases such as meningitis and encephalitis.

Module 3
Nursing and the Respiratory System
The respiratory system is central to sustaining life within the body by supplying it with oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. This module will teach you how the respiratory system functions and how to perform physical examinations and procedures to determine when it is deteriorating.
Module 4
Disorder of the Respiratory System
The respiratory tract is the most common portal of entry and exit of microscopic disease agents in the body. This module will teach you how to identify, treat and prevent a wide range of disorders of both the upper and lower respiratory system. You will also examine the implications that these disorders can have on the care you provide to patients.

Module 6
Physiology of Digestion
The module examines the function of the digestive system and metabolism. You will learn about proteins, carbohydrates and fatty acids, and how they provide fuel for the body's metabolism. You will learn about the lower digestive system, such as the intestines, pancreas and liver and how they produce enzymes and gastric juices to help in the absorption of food.
Module 7
Diagnostic and Intubation
This module focuses on the various diagnostic procedures for identifying disorders of the gastrointestinal system. Here you will learn how to identify the various signs and symptoms as well as examine the steps and procedures for gastric and intestinal intubation, the process of passing a tube through the nose or mouth, through the oesophagus, and into the stomach or intestine.

Gastrointestinal Diseases
In this module, you will learn about the different types of gastrointestinal disorders and learn how to identify the symptoms and different treatments for each disorder. You will also learn about diabetes, how it is caused, how to identify its symptoms and make the patient aware of the signs and symptoms, as well as emergency treatment procedures.
Module 9
The Function of the Central Nervous System
This module examines the function of the central nervous system. You will learn about the three major subdivisions: the central nervous system (CNS), the peripheral nervous system (PNS), and the autonomic nervous system (ANS). You will learn about the spinal cord and the brain-stem structure and function, as well as how to assess consciousness in regard to motor, sensory and orientation functions.
Module 10
Diagnostics and Care Procedures
This module focuses on the various diagnostic procedures for identifying and evaluating the patient's nervous system. Here you will learn the steps and procedures for brain scanning, electroencephalogram (EEG) and lumbar puncture. You will also learn about the proper positioning and care for an unconscious patient. Proper positioning of the patient prior to giving eye treatments and the procedure for administering hearing tests are also explained.

Nervous System Disorders
In this module, you will learn about the different types of some of the most common infectious neurological diseases such as meningitis and encephalitis. You will also learn about cranial nerve disorders and head injuries, generally categorized as direct and indirect. You will also learn about degenerative neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as well as the signs and symptoms, and emergency treatment procedures.
