Introduction
Our online degree in emergency medical services administration provides advanced knowledge in management and health services for those trained as an EMT, paramedic, nurse or other healthcare professional. EOU’s online bachelor’s degree in EMSA is perfect for EMTs or paramedics who want to move up in rank, but is also a great fit for those interested in a career in nursing, medical equipment sales, creating essential nursing resources or pursuing other management roles. Additionally, dispatchers, supervisors, instructors and operations managers will find the EMSA degree helpful.
EMT or paramedic certification/licensure is not required for program admission or graduation from the EMSA program. Students who enter the EMSA program with an associate degree will have the option to complete a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree, depending on their personal goals. Those entering the EMSA program without an associate degree can choose either the B.A. or B.S.
Courses in the program will explore everything from communication to legal aspects and the fundamentals of business. Throughout the EMSA curriculum, students will develop essential personnel management skills such as risk management, communications, regulations and quality assurance. Administrative techniques such as developing a schedule and capital budget will also be covered. Courses focus on understanding state and local government relationships in order to provide opportunities for career advancement.
The bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services administration at EOU is compliant with the National Fire Academy’s Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education Model Curriculum.
